PaSa is an AI Agent for comprehensive academic paper search by ByteDance. It is based on a large language model and can make independent decisions, including calling search tools, reading papers and selecting related references, providing comprehensive and accurate results for complex academic queries. The system consists of two core agents: Crawler handles user queries and calls tool extension citations, and Selector filters out qualified literature from collected papers. Through reinforcement learning and synthetic dataset optimization, PaSa significantly outperforms other baseline methods in the search and screening capabilities of academic queries, demonstrating excellent recall and accuracy.
